A veteran restaurateur, Tsialiamanis opened the original Taverna Opa in Hollywood, Florida in 1998. He envisioned the restaurant as the embodiment of the Greek spirit of Opa – a gathering place for guests to celebrate the basic elements of life – good, simple food, drinks and music enjoyed with family and friends.
In 2002 a decision was made to open the 300-seat Fort Lauderdale location, and by March 2003, the 250-seat South Beach store.
Soon after the Fort Lauderdale Taverna opened, a fire engulfed it and it stayed closed until the end of 2004 when it reopened ready for business.
On July 22nd, 2005, it was sold to Anna Varholis, Inc., as the first Franchise of Taverna Opa Restaurants.
Fort Lauderdale Opa is actively managed and operated by Anne V Ginsburg, Pres & CEO, and Michael Kasdaglis, VP, VPO, & Secretary Treasurer.
